When the MBOE curriculum was recognized by Dutch and British standards in 2021 and Mark asked me if I would be interested in collaborating to disseminate his Social Mindfulness approach, I jumped at the opportunity. This is because, while a one-to-one approach has its place in clinical psychology, I’m convinced that we need to understand wellbeing as something that comes from our relationships as much as our individual psychological traits.
This is because we are social beings – it’s the quality of our relationships that shapes our sense of self and it’s through our relationships that we find the meaning and purpose that enables us to develop as individuals. This is why Social Mindfulness makes sense and I’m really pleased to be part of something that I believe is going to have an increasing impact in organisations and public health.
